What Hercules means in our Logo
Hercules in the Hellenic Ethnic religion is considered as a solar deity, as a population of Helios, and interacts with the other populations of the lord of fire, the Gods Dionysus and Apollo, with whom he shares epithets and addresses. Together with Dionysus, in the eternal circular continuation, they bridge the divine part of Cosmos with the human one. In the Orphic tradition, it has the position of ageless Time, being inextricably linked with Saturn (Cronus).
It is the brilliant Leader of the Cosmos that passes through the 12 zodiacal constellations in the course of the innerself.
His action manifests itself on two perceptival levels that are seemingly only contradictory, philosophy and competitiveness.
Mythologically, the action of the deity manifests in the hero Heracles, who with his superhuman courage responds to all difficulties, while at the same time living virtuously (With Aretai), and making use of the powers given to him by the gods for the benefit of his fellow men.
He becomes, therefore, the ideal model of valor and wisdom that eventually reaches apotheosis and his inclusion in the Pantheon.
Hercules is the provider of the courage and prowess required to achieve glorious victory over adversity and any kind of action aimed at material or moral harm, and at the same time the grantor of health, peace and prosperity. Alcides Heracles has an indomitable power which he perfectly balances with logic.
He has a clearly philanthropic action focused on the course of man which he oversees, being himself the ideal model of combativeness and perseverance, which he instills in man always with the aim of benevolence. The path he chooses is demanding and in order to walk it the mortal man must arm himself with virtues (Aretes) so that on the one hand he can acquire mental self-control and on the other hand he can keep his way of thinking healthy and his judgment solid.
Through this process he will discover another path, the one that leads to the discovery of the inner true self, to "Know Thy self".
Those who succeed in walking the path drawn by Heracles are crowned winners in the end because they reach the highest limit to which man can reach, the acquisition of solar consciousness, which ranks them in the circle (level) of heroes.
Symbolically, the lion skin, the club and the 3 apples with which the Triesperous Hercules is depicted, reflect the gifts of virtue (Arete) offered by the god.
The skin reflects prudence and discretion, the club reflects fortitude, i.e. perseverance and endurance in what is objectively assessed as important, and the 3 apples the virtues of selflessness, temperance and indifference. What the solar Hercules ultimately bestows is the philosopher's art in battle, in every battle that man fights, mainly and primarily with himself, to overcome iniquity and humble instincts. In this sense, God is a civilizer, as he oversees the progress of the human race. More In particular, he is considered as the civilizer of the Aegean populations of Hesperia and for this reason the Straits of Gibraltar were already called the Heracleian Pillars from ancient times.
